How to export Garmin Custom Maps with satellite images that cover larger areas

Select the optimum zoom level: more details vs. wide range.
Pan the map at this zoom level to make sure the map view is in the offline cache.

Export the Garmin CustomMaps file:
Menu >> scroll down >> Export... >> KMZ >> Export >> destination

Connect your watch with an USB cable and copy the map file into the folder
"Internal Storage\GARMIN\CustomMaps" on your smartwatch.

Configure Custom Maps display on your watch:
Activity(e.g.Hike) >> Menu long-press >> Settings >> Map >> Configure Maps

This works only for watches that support Garmin Maps (fenix,epix2...).
